A MUSICAL EVENING TOWARDS HELPING LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE
Plenty of music and live performance
Matt Nicolson will make a presentation about his work with young people in Tanzania and the Stormont Studios at the Devas youth club.
Matt has been working in Dar Es Salaam developing musical talent with young Tanzanians – Tanzania House of Talent. This is linked to the work of Stormont Studios in developing the talent of our local Battersea young people.
As part of October’s Black History month, the club held an event to raise funds for Oxfam’s East Africa appeal. The day’s entertainment featured singers, rappers, poets, dance and drama. Made especially for the day by some of the performers at Stormont Studios, was also the limited CD album which helped raise that little bit more for the cause. The club would like to thank all those who were involved who helped make it a successful day.
Devas is a registerd charity and depends on support from Wandsworth Council to fund staffing costs. Building maintenance and new projects such as the music studio are funded by donations. Please help us by donating via the just giving site.
